Local rebellious teenager Clotaire is caught up in his school friend Jackie – but gang violence leads him down a dark and destructive path. Years later, the star-crossed lovers find that every road they took leads them back together. Old..
I was so excited to see this film, directed by Gilles Lellouch and starring Adele Exarchopoulos and Francois Civil. It has all the ingredients to make a French blockbuster, but they miss it. The first part is too long to set the stage for their young lives and love.
Plus, after an hour we start to feel disappointed that we don’t see anyone from Adele and Francois. If this first loooong part was meant to be, the film should have been in 2 releases. Because I think, even though it was long, it was a good one.
The second part of their adult life is in many ways unreliable and not exciting enough. I found the adaptation of the script to be a bit weak. Also, I didn’t feel any connection to this reunion love story.
Good for Mallory Vanek as Jackie and Malik Frick as the young Clotaire who gives a great performance.
